We’ve GOT To Do Better

*Editor’s Note: Hope you guys are staying afloat of all the news that surrounds you. Here’s a story that does not necessarily seek to promote but instead, it serves as a lesson on how NOT to conduct yourself. In addition to making my community aware of some of the things that go on within our circle, I feel that its also PNE’s responsibility to show the world how we can indeed do better. And before anyone says “Well, this isn’t an injustice,” let me remind you that we all have some level of social responsibility to our youth, whether we wish to acknowledge it or not. Failing to do so could prove detrimental to the children of today who will become future leaders of tomorrow. Presidential Pro Tempore, Monica Conyers, REALLY needs to learn how to act accordingly…as the professional that she SHOULD be. Otherwise, you stand the possibility of being ‘called out’ by an elementary aged child. I’m all about “keeping it real,” but when you fail to realize WHEN it’s necessary to trade in the gang signs and doo-rags for your business attire, I can’t support your efforts in any way. This is the same woman that made verbal and physical threats of assault with a gun. Can anybody out there tell me WHY she’s serving on ANY board at all?

Watch both videos in their entirety. The first video shows footage of a city counsel meeting in which Conyers goes off and the one just below it shows a child reminding Conyers of her responsibilities as an adult:

when i saw this video I could not believe what I was watching.

I am really being to hate that I moved to Detroit from Flint. Yes Flint has its problems just like Detriot, (Flint’s Mayor calling City Counsel studip and asking for just about all of them to step down, and them going back and forth being petty because the mayor won’t do something city counsel didn’t approve a city budget) but here in Detroit, it’s on a whole different level. You have the text scandal, love affairs, questionable murder and possible coverup, city bids going to the mayor’s ‘homeboy’, and now this. It is a sad state when a child has more sense then an adult. All I can be happy about right now is that I can honestly say that I did not vote for these people and in November, I will be making my voice heard loud and clear

i just watched the 2nd video that young lady was more of an adult than the “on” adult. she needs to be termmminated a.s.a.p from her job. she had no remorse and then she is dealing with children. she wouldn’t teach my child shit.

  4. PoeticEnigma Says:

The first video did not play, but the second one was enough. My first reaction is wow, but with all of the idiotic things going on everywhere, why should I be surprised? People are ignorant and she is representing a city…. That’s Detroit for you, lol. I’m so not in love with that city.

  5. CC Says:

This lady obviously has issues with listening and allowing others to speak their minds..she was actually arguing with an 8th grader! WOW!!! Detroit family, ya’ll need to get that sister out of your city counsil ASAP

  6. Brandy Says:

They need to remove her from the board immediately. I could see she was getting mad with with the 8th grader because she knew she was right. The 8th grader acted more mature than she did.

  7. kase Says:

well dam…she is ghetto as hell…that lil girl let her ass have it..hey they always say out of the mouths of babes…

  8. Chris Says:

You can take the person out of the hood, but you can’t take the hood out of the person “SMH”

  9. Tonya Tunez Says:

WTH??? Did she drink the crack today? For real! She was wrong, out of order, unprofessional, immature and irresponsible! She’s full of pride and refuse to take responsibility for her actions. The child was more responsible than the adult. I’m outdone!

  10. Carnell Says:

I saw both videos and I thought she was totally out of line. I was floored at how primative and unprofessional her speech was..not so much because its inapporpriate but its WHAT she was saying that made it THAT MUCH MORE intolerable. That little girl did what she was suppose to do…Trust, though because of ADULTS; THEIR ACTIONS, WHAT THEY CHOOSE TO PUT ON TV, WHAT THEY CHOOSE TO SAY ON RADIO and WHAT THEY CHOOSE TO SING IN MUSIC…HAS CHILDREN a “mess” today…there are still some who have kept the innocence we so deperately wish all could retain..and to them its UNFAIR!

  11. Keeley Says:

This lady does have issues…deeply rooted…

Found this video but it’s not embedable. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGxiGdwngNY)

My all in all opinon is that this woman needs to learn to restrain herself. I wonder if our city counsel is hiring b/c why is she still on the board after an outburst like that. These are the people that come together to make decisions for your city and they at one another like snakes; spitting venom back and forth. Maybe she feels she has that leeway b/c her husband is a Congressman. Congress ain’t too much better though. I wonder how he feels about his ” ‘Bout It! ‘Bout It” Wife! Gotta love her gangsta though…lol

  12. angel Says:

yea she needed to be called out on her mess. Its ashame that she couldn’t even own up and say she was wrong and I don’t care how many times she had to say it, these where children infront of her. She should know how and when to pick her battles. She shouldn’t be council women of nothing. peace

  13. Tia Says:

I saw this video last week and was totally taken a back. On the board of what was my first response and how the hell did you get the position on the board was my second. You dont want to know my third. I disgress.

I applaud the young lady that addressed her in the second video because she let her have it! Yeah we need to be concerned about our youth but some of us grown folks need to be checked too.

  14. Iksa Says:

the 8th grader was on point… and I like the fact that she didn’t back down when congresswoman tried to argue with her…if it was another child asking these questions he/she would probably feel intimidated

  15. Tilisha Says:

She outta feel like a real jacka$$. That little girl had to remind her several times that she is an adult and she should act better. That’s the reason so many children act the way that they do becuz they have ignorant parents like her. That was totally ridiculous.

  16. mselwinc Says:

BIG SIGH!!! This woman could be what’s happening for all black women, BUT she DOES NOT, I repeat DOES NOT represent a successful Black woman! Ms. Kiera (YOU GO GYRL!!!) said one of the most important things, that children are susposed to look up to her, but obviously homegyrl doesn’t think she’s a role model! This woman clearly has issues I pray she resolves because although her actions don’t show, she is a smart woman.
