“Father” Boxes His 2 Year Old, Leaves Him Brain Dead

Posted in Child Abuse on August 5, 2010 by projectnewera

Editor’s Note: This is ridiculous!

A father who tried to teach his 2-year-old son to box is facing second-degree murder charges now that the boy is brain dead. Police say Miami-area man Lee Willy DeJesus put on boxing gloves and hit his son Willy 15 times over a 15-minute period, at one point slugging him so hard he fell off the bed and struck his head on the floor, CNN reports.

Willy was declared brain dead after he was taken to a local hospital, and police plan to upgrade the charges against DeJesus to first-degree murder if the boy is taken off life support, NBC reports. Police say that after the boy hit his head, Dejesus waited an hour to call 911 and initially told investigators that the bruises had been inflicted by a babysitter.

Murdered: Amilyia Oliver

Oliver Case

Three years ago Nekela Oliver gave birth to Amilyia, now she’s behind bars in connection with her daughter’s murder. According to a police affidavit, 23-year-old Antonio Starks admitted to spanking the little girl three times, with a belt, because she used the bathroom on herself and him.

Investigators say Amilyia had a wound to her head and bruises over most of her body. What’s just as disturbing is police say three-year-old’s mother made up a story to cover for her boyfriend Antonio, the man accused of murdering her daughter.

Oliver first claimed a babysitter, not Starks, was responsible for the blow to the head that killed her three-year-old girl.

Police say she lied.

“I’m heartbroken, says neighbor Wendy Jones. “I don’t see how anyone can do anything to a baby a child anyway.

The alleged abuse happened Saturday at the couple’s South Memphis apartment in the 400-block of Walker. Oliver and her boyfriend took the little girl to Delta Medical Hospital around 12:45 in the afternoon. According to their arrest ticket, Amilyia was already dead.

“They looked like a normal little happy family,” said Jones. They come out and play and walk the dog but we never seen no abuse toward them.”

Across town in Fox Meadows no one answered the door at the address Starks listed. But neighbor Alma Thomas tells a slightly different story about the couple. “They would have them out in driveway riding their bikes. But they would argue all the time, but I would never see them mistreat kids.”

Investigators believe Starks was the only adult in the house when Amilyia was abused. Her mother was at work. A seven-year-old boy is in protective custody.

Wendy Jones, the mother of a two-month-old is wondering how anyone could be so cruel to a child.

“How can someone do a baby like that. It’s crazy. “

According to the affidavit, Oliver claims Starks has excessively beaten Amilyia in the past. His criminal history shows he got in trouble once before for selling alcohol to minors.

Oliver didn’t have a record. Both are scheduled to make their first appearance in court on Tuesday.

Abused: Shylae Thomas

With a radio playing next to her, a small smile would cross Shylae Thomas’s face as she turned her head toward the sound.

For a little girl who couldn’t walk, talk or even hug, her love of music was one of the few ways the family could see the life and the spirit within Shylae.

She was a little girl with big brown eyes and chubby cheeks, her face usually framed by several small ponytails.

She was a little girl with a tragic life marked by a carousel of caregivers who tried — and often struggled — to give the severely mentally and physically disabled girl a good life.

Police found the Shylae, 9, dead in a Vienna Township storage unit Wednesday. Her adoptive mother and biological aunt, Lorrie M. Thomas, is being accused of second-degree murder in Shylae’s death, which authorities say was caused by severe malnourishment.

“You played music and she’d turn her head,” said Josette Thomas, a cousin who at one point had custody of Shylae. “She loved voices and would be so happy when we talked to her.”

Shylae couldn’t do a lot, but even those with low cognitive skills are aware and fully capable of feeling love and care.

“They do show signs of pain and joy,” said Julie Jones, a Community Mental Health supervisor of the child and family services for development disabilities program. “So there is a smile or relaxation of bodies when they are being hugged or held.”

And her family knows that — remembering her smile when they kissed her little toes.

Born healthy, her family and friends recall how beautiful she was – a typical baby that would cry and kick her feet when she needed attention.

“She was a happy, healthy, loving baby,” Josette Thomas said.

It didn’t last long.

At 3-months-old, Shylae got her head caught between the mattress and bars in her crib and she couldn’t breathe. The lack of oxygen caused severe brain damage.

She became unable to move much more than her head, although her foot would sometimes tap to the music. She was confined to a wheelchair and had to be fed by a tube inserted in her stomach.

“She couldn’t do nothing but just look and smile every now and then,” said Michael Moore, the father of one of Shylae’s sisters. “I think she could probably understand, but you couldn’t tell.”

Murdered: Emanuel Murray

A Florida man has been charged with first-degree murder after authorities say he threw a 3-month-old boy out of a moving car on a Tampa interstate.

Richard Anthony McTear Jr., 21, was arrested Tuesday, hours after a confrontation at his former girlfriend’s apartment in which he snatched the child, the Hillsborough County sheriff’s office said.

A passing motorist found Emanuel Wesley Murray’s body on the interstate. An autopsy determined the child died of blunt trauma to the head, the county medical examiner’s office said.

Video on CNN affiliate WFLA TV showed McTear being led out of a Tampa police squad car after his arrest. He ducked his head as TV cameras surrounded him on his walk into a police building.

When asked by reporters if he had thrown the child out of the car window, McTear answered, “It’s a dirty game. A dirty game.”

McTear is not related to the child, said sheriff’s spokeswoman Debbie Carter.

Police had been called to his former girlfriend’s apartment about 3:15 a.m. The mother, Jasmine Bedwell, 18, told investigators that McTear had hit her several times and threatened “to kill the both of y’all,” the sheriff’s department said in a statement announcing the charges.

McTear threw a car seat containing the child across the room during the fight, causing the boy to fall onto the apartment’s concrete floor, investigators said. He then picked up the boy and drove off in his blue Chevrolet Impala, throwing the child out while on the interstate, the sheriff’s department said.

The child’s body was found around 4:30 a.m.

McTear is facing additional charges of burglary with battery, felony battery, aggravated child abuse and kidnapping, the sheriff’s department said.

Murdered: Ja’Shawn Powell

Danny Platt said he was under a lot of pressure. He apparently owed his estranged wife $4,000 in back child support.

But there were no signs of stress when the 22-year-old father, accused of killing his 2-year-old son over the child support debt, went to pick up his little boy for a weekend visit, his mother said Sunday.

On Friday, several hours after her son, Ja’ Shawn, left, Daniella Powell received a phone call. It was Platt. He said their son had been kidnapped and quickly hung up.

Powell called back in disbelief. She said her husband gave different accounts of the kidnapping. She asked if he had called police. He said he had, but when she called authorities, they hadn’t heard from him.

Police said Platt made up an elaborate story about his son being kidnapped by three men armed with AK-47 rifles late Friday night. Platt eventually confessed to the killing, telling authorities he “would kill either his wife or his child before he paid child support,” Police Superintendent Warren Riley said Saturday.

Later, he led police to the boy’s body. He has been booked on a charged of first-degree murder.

On Saturday night, as he was being led to jail in handcuffs, Platt said he was under a lot of pressure and acknowledged killing his son, but disputed the slaying occurred solely over the debt to his estranged wife.

“I’m sorry about killing my baby,” Platt told reporters. “I had a whole bunch of reasons.”

It’s not clear whether Platt has an attorney. Telephone messages left Sunday for New Orleans police and the coroner’s office were not immediately returned.

Powell said Sunday the two never had any violent fights and Platt wasn’t going through any emotional problems.

“He knew what he was doing. He killed my 2-year-old son,” she said.

Powell said her son’s body was found in a plastic bag at a park. She and her family were busy preparing her son’s funeral arrangements.

“I don’t have money for anything. We are trying to come up with it now,” Powell said.

Police said Saturday in announcing the arrest that Platt hadn’t seen his son in quite some time. Powell said Platt had taken the boy trick-or-treating on Halloween, but acknowledged they hadn’t spoken for a couple of months. However, she didn’t think it was odd Platt wanted to spend the weekend with his son.

Ja ‘Shawn was excited about seeing his father, she said. “He went to the door and said, ‘Daddy’ when he came to pick him up,” she said.

Beaten to Death: Imani Jennings

Original Article Found at Syracuse Online

Syracuse, NY — Relatives told 18-year-old Cherron Patterson and her 15-year-old boyfriend, Anthony Weakfall, earlier this year that they were spanking Cherron’s baby too hard, according to the baby’s maternal grandmother.

On Sunday, relatives said they wished they had done more to protect 20-month-old Imani Jennings.

“I saw (Weakfall) spanking the baby (in the past),” said Amy Patterson, Cherron’s mother and Imani’s maternal grandmother. “Any place where Imani had bare skin, they’d smack her. They’d smack her till she screamed and then tell her to shut up. I told Cherron that he (Weakfall) has no business putting his hands on that baby. It’s not his child.”

Still, she never thought her granddaughter’s story would end like this.

On Sunday, Imani Jennings’ relatives and members of Mothers Against Gun Violence held a candlelight vigil outside the 124 Fage Ave. home where Syracuse police said Weakfall beat the girl to death over a potty-training accident.

“I just want to know why,” said Imani’s father, Lee Jennings Jr., 20, of 607 Park St.

He said he had admonished Cherron Patterson in the summer of 2007 for slapping their daughter in the head to discipline her.

“She would slap her, pop her in the forehead, like no ordinary slap,” Jennings said. “She went beyond a disciplinarian.”

But after he stopped dating Cherron a year ago, he never suspected that she or Weakfall was abusing the toddler, Jennings said.

“I had no idea,” Jennings said.

Police said Weakfall spent nearly an hour Friday beating the toddler with a metal rod, a cable cord, bedsprings and his fists. He then left to attend Corcoran High School.

Weakfall — who was charged Saturday with murder — was being held Sunday in Hillbrook Detention Center.

Cherron Patterson, a Fowler High student, was not home when her daughter was killed, police said. But police charged the woman with assault and endangering the welfare of her child in a prior incident involving Imani. Patterson, who is six months pregnant, is being held in the Justice Center Jail.

What Do You Propose?

*Editor’s note: Stories such as the one posted below are becoming more and more common, especially as it pertains to black children who are forced into the foster care system. You feel for these children because in most cases, they’re tossed around like a rag doll from home to home, constantly being made to feel as though they’re not loved or wanted. What I’m finding to also be a common practice is that many social workers are now taking on the practice of simply putting a child “somewhere,” as this “somewhere” is often mistaken for better than “nowhere.” Although I am not pointing the finger at ALL social workers because there are several out there who value their jobs and take pride in creating the best and most ideal situation for each case they’re in charge of, I still can’t help but to wonder how the ‘bad seeds’ manage to slip through the cracks and why MORE isn’t being done to prevent stories like the one posted below from happening? As a community, there has to be something that we can do. A child should not have to throw him or herself from a window in an effort to find assuagement from an otherwise ‘not so good’ situation. I feel for these children, as they generally can’t speak for themselves. Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood and an extreme advocate of women taking control of their bodies, proposed an idea in her speech entitled The Children’s Era that basically stated that just as you would interview a teacher or cook before allowing them to work for you, children should have those same rights. Sanger understood that children could not, obviously, speak for themselves in utero; however, she proposed that potential parents be given a battery of mental and physical tests to ensure that children were being placed in the most ideal situation. Although this test would not be 100% fool proof, it would most certainly lessen several incidences related to the death of children who are not being regarded as humans. What are your thoughts? Please feel free to post them here or email them to me at projectnewera@gmail.com.

PhotobucketTwo girls’ bodies were found in a freezer in Lusby home after a third girl jumped from a second-story window Friday to escape her adopted mother, according to the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office.

A 7-year-old girl was left unattended in a locked room at the home on Buckskin Trail, investigators said. After jumping from the window, she was found by residents on Pawnee Trail, who called the sheriff’s office. The girl appeared to be extremely abused and neglected and is receiving treatment at Children’s Hospital.

A search of the home on Buckskin led to the discovery of human remains in a freezer, according to the sheriff’s office.

Upon learning that her adopted 7-year-old daughter had been picked up by sheriff’s deputies, 43-year-old Renee Bowman contact the sheriff’s office and confessed to beating the girl with a hard-heeled shoe, investigators said.

Investigators learned that Bowman adopted three girls from the District of Columbia. Bowman told authorities the human remains are those of her other two adopted daughters, another 7-year-old girl and a 9-year-old girl. Bowman said the remains had been in the freezer since before she moved to Lusby from Rockville in February 2008.

The three children were in the D.C. Child and Family Services system but were assigned to private contractor Board of Child Care, which is headquartered in Baltimore but has an office in the District, according to D.C. Council Member Tommy Wells, the chair of the Human Services Committee, which oversees child and family services.

The freezer was taken to the medical examiner’s office in Baltimore.

Bowman is being held on first-degree child abuse charges.

Anyone with information about the case should call Maryland State Police at 410-535-1400 or the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office at 410-535-2800, extension 2454.

PhotobucketThe details of the double murder at the BREC park were made public Tuesday. They describe Monday’s double murder as a “love triangle gone very wrong.”
Investigators say a complicated love triangle led to the killings of a Baker woman and her three-year-old son at a BREC park in Zachary. The victims have been identified as 23-year-old Jessica Johnson Palmer and her son, Juan Palmer, Jr. Her two daughters were also injured, but survived.

Johnson’s former boyfriend, Dominique Dantoni Smith of Zachary, and his current girlfriend, Trendall Lashel Matthews of Jackson, Louisiana were arrested overnight. Matthews is a second-cousin of the victim, according to relatives.

PhotobucketBoth are charged with two counts of first degree murder and two counts of attempted first degree murder. “They actually lured Jessica to the park along with her children, where the killings took place,” said sheriff’s department spokeswoman Casey Hicks.

Detectives believe the killings took place sometime Sunday evening at Doyle’s Bayou Park on Pride-Port Hudson Road.
After the killings took place, the two young girls spent the evening in the park. They were discovered Monday afternoon by a BREC working cutting grass in. Johnson and her son were found in wooded area of the park.

PhotobucketPhotobucketDeputies are praising a four-year-old with saving another life. Four-year-old Lindsay Paige Johnson is being considered a hero. According to investigators, after the murders, the four-year-old, whose own throat had been cut, saved her baby sister.
“If you can imagine a little 4-year-old, who had been cut, pick up her 6-month-old infant sister and carrying her out of those woods and get as far as she did to the front of the park. That’s just a miracle,” Sheriff Sid Gautreaux says.

*Editor’s Note: Reason #9299284 why I’m a huge advocate for having children when you’re ready, not due to circumstance. This is NOT to say that I am promoting abortion..what I AM saying is that it’s important to be careful so that you won’t have to worry about such things if you’re not prepared. Newsflash people…having a baby is a FULL TIME job. Unfortunately, Rozlynn didn’t realize this. Now, she won’t be doing any partying anytime soon.

A South Side teenage mother who authorities said no longer wanted a baby because she couldn’t go to parties was held on $600,000 bond Wednesday on charges that she drowned her 5-month-old daughter in a bathtub earlier this month.

Rozlynn Rodgers, 19, was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder in the April 4 death of her daughter, Makalah, at their home in the 7800 block of South Ingleside Avenue. She later told authorities that she drowned the child because she no longer wanted to be a mother, officials said.

Rodgers told police “she didn’t want to be a mom anymore because she couldn’t go to parties if she had to take care of the baby,” Assistant State’s Atty. Mary Anna Planey said Wednesday during a bond hearing before Judge Laura Sullivan.

Planey said that Rodgers placed the baby in a full bathtub on the afternoon of April 4. When the child slid under the water, Rodgers sat and watched for several minutes, Planey said. Another person in the house called 911 after Rodgers removed Makalah from the bathtub.

The baby later was pronounced dead of cardiac arrest, and the medical examiner reported that her lungs were saturated with water, Planey said. Though the original autopsy by the Cook County medical examiner’s office was inconclusive, the manner of death was later changed to homicide, police spokeswoman Laura Kubiak said Wednesday.

Her son, Fred Dumas Jr. (pictured above), was found tied up near a church with bug and possible snake bites.

Fred Leonard Dumas, the father of of Fred Jr., has been charged with child abuse.

Unfortunately, Katrina’s body was found with a gunshot wound to the head and police are now questioning Dumas Sr., with regards to this matter.

Unfortunately, the young boy is the one that will suffer most in this case…as he now has to grow up without his mother, while his father will be locked away for abuse and (possible) murder.

*Editor’s Note: I believe that there is no such thing as a ‘recovered child molester.’ The commentator on this video said that there should be a ONE STRIKE, YOU’RE OUT rule and I agree 100%. You touch a child, to jail you go…do not pass go, do not collect $200 you nasty heathen! There should be no forgiveness when you sexually assault and kill a defenseless CHILD. I can not even begin to IMAGINE what this young boy was thinking when he was being violated by a sick and obviously incestuous family!

I’m warning you…this is, by FAR, the nastiest most disgusting thing I have EVER watched! Although there are no graphic pictures, the words that you hear that create the story of what was DONE to this poor child is CHILLING! In a very short summary, the father and son (David and George Edenfield, respectively) took turns raping and performing oral sex on Christopher while the mother (Peggy Edenfield) watched and masturbated. Once they choked the boy to death, Peggy then took a wet rag and attempted to wipe the finger prints off his neck. They later called Donald Dale (last male pictured) to help them dispose of the body. Absolutely horrific! Crazy that I happened to be in Atlanta in 2007 and had heard nothing of this story. May Christopher RIP and know that he will NEVER, EVER be touched like that again!! *Editor’s Note: Yet ANOTHER case of a woman who lets some knuckle headed thug move in with her and become the ‘daddy’ to her kids. Now she has to rot in prison for felony child endangerment. Although I feel that the males in these situations are at fault, I still tend to look more unfavorably at the mothers, for they are the ones who bore the child. And to so willingly and unapologetically allow another man to even THINK ‘spanking’ their own flesh and blood will continue to astound me for the rest of my days on earth. If at any point you have to question whether or not to keep a random dude from the streets over your child, that’s the exact minute you should relinquish all responsibility of said child to someone who REALLY gives a damn.

PhotobucketA Toledo couple were arraigned in court Thursday on felony child endangerment charges.

Antoinette Hairston, 25, admitted to seeing her boyfriend, twenty-year-old Mitchell Moore beat her son. Moore has admitted to beating the child.

Initially, Hairston took her son to the hospital saying she left him alone in the bath tub and he slipped, falling under the water. In the hospital, doctors noticed signs of abuse such as bind marks on the boy’s wrists, burn marks on his legs and punch marks on his rib cage. It is believed he was beaten with a belt and clothes hanger.

Police report that around 5:57 p.m. on Dec. 26, they responded to a call at Toledo Hospital of an infant in critical condition. The child passed away while police were en route to the hospital.

Toledo Police Captain Ray Carroll told News 11, “It’s nothing short of torture. Horrible abuse to an innocent child less than two-years-old. It’s beyond comprehension.”

The Lucas County Coroner’s Office is conducting an autopsy Thursday to determine the exact cause of death and how long the abuse was taking place. Depending on the coroner’s findings, the child endangerment charges could be upgraded to murder.

Relatives told News 11 that Hairston has only been dating Moore for three months and that she was getting ready to leave him. They also said her other two children, ages four and six, have come forward with stories of abuse.

*Editor’s Note: I know that I said that the focus of this website is to bring to light stories regarding blacks, as we are sorely misrepresented in the media concerning murder, abduction and unjust court cases. However, in doing some researching today, I found a story of a young hispanic girl named Nixzmary Brown. She was tortured, sexually abused and MURDERED by her…take a guess. Come on….I encourage you…take a guess.

Her mother’s husband…aka her STEPfather…aka NOT the baby’s daddy…bka ANOTHER incident where a mother’s poor relationship choices have costs her her child’s life. According to reports, she was charged as well for not doing anything while all of this took place. And to think, this was ALL over some yogurt?

It truly breaks my heart to hear stories about children who aren’t loved. I’ve never wished to have an insane amount of riches but if I DID, I would surely help save some of these kids. Mad because your daughter is text messaging a boy? Upset that your child messed up your time with your precious X Box? Or wait, maybe you’re mad because your child is being a child and asking for NORMAL things like YOGURT?! If I had it, I swear I’d build some type of safe haven for kids like Nixzmary to feel safe and never have to worry about being hurt over things that don’t matter.

St. John the Baptist Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested the mother, stepfather and stepbrother of an 8-year-old Reserve boy after the child was pronounced dead in a hospital emergency room Tuesday afternoon.

A Sheriff’s Office spokesman said the boy, M.L. Lloyd, III had “obvious” signs of physical abuse on his body, but would not elaborate.

The boy’s stepfather, Errol Victor Sr., 42, was booked with first-degree murder, while his mother, Tonya Victor, 33, and stepbrother, Errol Victor Jr., 21, were booked with principle to first-degree murder shortly after 6 p.m., said Maj. Mike Tregre, a Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

All three were being held in the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility in LaPlace on Tuesday night.

Tregre said the boy was brought to River Parishes Hospital about 12:30 p.m. by the three adults. The child was unresponsive and medical personnel later pronounced him dead, Tregre said.

No other details regarding the boy’s death have been released. An autopsy is scheduled this morning in New Orleans.

Tregre said arrests were based on the physical signs of abuse found on the child, emergency room findings and Errol Victor Sr. ‘s statement to medical personnel “that he would take responsibility for everything.”

Tregre said 13 children, including Lloyd, had lived inside the home on Louisiana 3179 with the Victors. Nine of the children, who were younger than 18, were taken into custody by the Office of Community Services Tuesday.

While the Victors were being questioned, scores of deputies searched the family home. A comforter, two vehicles — one an Escalade that was used to drive Lloyd to the hospital — and other items were taken from the home by crime scene investigators.

In addition, investigators took some of the suspects’ clothing.

Tregre said the three were not cooperating with the investigation.

*Editor’s Note: This is absolutely disgusting. You anally RAPE an 8 DAY old baby? In addition to you being a nasty piece of CRAP, you’re also a noted abuser to your wife…yet you want the judge to ‘give you a blood test or something’ to prove your innocence? Again, I’m sorely reminded of the case concerning Daniyah Jackson, who was 10 months old when she was violated by her mother’s boyfriend. For some reason, Daniyah holds an extremely special place in my heart. I’ve even included photos of her on my Myspace page. I don’t understand the sexual “rush” that pedophiles and child abusers feel. What about a PRE-pubescent body is a turn on? Absolutely nothing! Read on….

PhotobucketA 21-year-old Lincoln Park father was arraigned Monday on charges that he sexually assaulted and murdered his 8-day-old daughter.

During the hearing, Christopher Richardson vehemently denied that he committed the acts, repeating, “I didn’t do this” to the judge and his family.

He asked the judge if he could “give blood or something to prove that I didn’t do this, man.”

Earlier Monday, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy held a news conference to give details on what Richardson is accused of doing to his infant daughter, Neveah Richardson.

Richardson had been charged with domestic violence in the beating of his wife. Added to that charge Monday afternoon was murder, sexual assault and criminal sexual conduct against his baby.

Neveah had died as a result of an anal intrusion that caused “massive internal bleeding and sepsis” (infected blood), Worthy said in the news conference.

At his arraignment, Richardson continuously denied he was responsible, calling it “psychotic, sick …”

Police said Neveah’s mother told them that she woke up with her daughter on her chest and found her bleeding from the face and mouth.

When Richardson was brought to the hospital, health officials said she was bleeding from the nose, mouth and rectum.

Lincoln Park Police Chief Thomas Karnes said during a news conference last week that the father beat the baby’s mother on the way to the hospital. The grandparents, too, were in the car, he said.
