18 Year Old Rosemary Newman, Pregnant & Strangled by Child’s Father
Posted in Pregnant, Project New Era on April 29, 2011 by projectneweraTwenty-year-old Deandre Minkins and his girlfriend 19-year-old Shante Thomas have been charged with first-degree murder and intentional homicide of an unborn child. Good, but who knows how extensively they’ll be punished.
A brief investigation revealed that Minkins and Thomas extensively planned and plotted the murder of Rosemary Newman over a span of several weeks. Rosemary was nine months pregnant, and Deandre Minkins was the father of her unborn child, although the two weren’t romantically involved. Shante and Deandre must have come to a mutual understanding that this child must not be born, probably because the deadbeat didn’t want to pay child support, or maybe Shante was blinded with jealousy over having to share her new man with a young child and ex girlfriend. At any rate, they plotted and on the night of the murder, their plans came to fruition.

The 12-year-old was located at 3AM Wednesday morning in the Garden Valley Apartments located at E. 79th and Kinsman.

Hudson is currently being held in the City of Cleveland Division of Corrections Central Prison Unit.

Zaire was slumped over the end of the bed with the gun lying next to him.

A Memphis, Tennessee man is in police custody after authorities say he beat a 2-year-old to death with a basketball shoe after she accidentally defecated on the floor.
Police report that 23-year-old Calvin Jones was babysitting his girlfriend’s 2-year-old daughter when the child had an accident on the floor.
Jones told police that he “disciplined” the child with a basketball shoe and the back of his hand, smacking her several times.
When the child’s mother, 21-year-old Anisha Alford returned, the child reportedly complained of not feeling well and was cold to the touch.
A witness tells police they saw the child gagging and spitting up with her eyes rolling in the back of her head but say Alford refused to take her to a hospital. Instead the couple went to sleep and woke up in the morning to find the child dead.
Jones faces charges of first degree murder and aggravated child abuse. Alford has been charged with first degree child abuse as well.

Ridiculous: Queens Dad Murders 7 Month Old for Being a Mama’s Boy
Posted in Project New Era, Ridiculousness on April 15, 2010 by projectneweraJealous that his son “preferred his mother,” a Queens dad fatally beat his 7-month-old, the latest in a rash of violence against small children in the borough, officials said Wednesday.
“Toughen up!” Larry Greene yelled at the crying child before punching him in the chest, prosecutors charged.
Xiah stopped breathing moments later, and died Tuesday night at Queens Hospital Center, the fourth child in the borough to die at the hands of a guardian in five weeks.
“We’re grieving right now,” Pierre Nady, 47, the victim’s maternal grandfather, said Wednesday. “Xiah was only 7 months old – he was a cute, little boy [and] he was loved.”
Xiah had a bruise on his scalp, two bruises on the neck and five bruises on the chest that showed imprints of an adult’s knuckles, officials said.
The child’s mother, Cassandra Nady, asked Greene, 20, who lives nearby, to watch Xiah at her St. Albans home.
“He said the baby fell when he was feeding him but it wasn’t even close to the truth,” said Nady.
Prosecutors said they have a videotaped confession from Greene, who admits hitting his son – and told them he was upset the boy “preferred his mother.”
Greene’s shocked sister refused to believe he could be such a monster. “Larry is a good person, he wouldn’t do anything like this,” said Laquana Greene, 25. “It’s a misunderstanding.”
Greene was charged with second-degree manslaughter yesterday and could face up to 25 years to life in prison if convicted.
Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said Xiah was at the least the ninth child assaulted by a caregiver in the last five months.
“There is no excuse for these senseless attacks,” said Brown.
“Allah” Told Him to Murder His Four Family Members
Posted in Murdered, Project New Era on April 15, 2010 by projectneweraIn a scene police described as “horrendous”, a woman and three children — one seven months old — were found shot to death in their home in Marquette Park, allegedly by the father of at least one of the children who was visiting from Wisconsin.
A 12-year-old girl fled the home, notified police, and was taken into protective custody.
The victims include a 7-month-old boy who is the son of the gunman, his 3-year-old neice Kaleisha Larry, and his 16-year-old pregnant niece Keyshai Fields. The fourth victim, a 30-year-old female, was identified as the gunman’s wife, who was also believed to be pregnant.
Damon Larry, 13, and Leonna Larry, 57, believed to be the gunman’s mother and nephew, were also shot but survived the incident. They were transported to Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn in serious condition. At least one of them is not expected to survive.
“This is a really bad crime scene, really horrendous,” said 8th District Commander John Kupczyk. “We see a lot of crime out here that is really tragic to the community and their families, but something like this is really incomprehensible”.
Mikarah Sanders Murdered Over Myspace Comment
Posted in Murdered, Project New Era, Ridiculousness on April 12, 2010 by projectnewera
*The story is about three months old but I still felt that it was worth posting.
A 16-year-old boy accused of shooting his girlfriend to death also shot himself in an attempt to make it look like someone else was responsible, prosecutors said.
Matthew D. DuBois has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Mikarah Sanders. KOMO News normally does not identify juveniles accused of crimes, but prosecutors have charged DuBois as an adult.
According to court documents, DuBois was angry at Sanders because of a comment that an ex-boyfriend had left on her MySpace page. The two were arguing at an apartment complex at 12445 Ambaum Boulevard SW on New Year’s Eve, and Mikarah was shot once in the face.
Another girl who was in the apartment initially told police that the DuBois was not the gunman, but she later recanted her story and said she lied at DuBois’ request because she was scared of him.
She eventually told investigators that she was in another room when she heard a single gun shot. She looked into the other room and saw DuBois on top of Mikarah, and he told her to call 911, the documents said. The girl said DuBois then shot himself in the shoulder, told her to lie to police, and went to a different apartment.
Mikarah, who had been shot in the head, was rushed to Harborview Medical Center where she later died.
Neighbors have said that the couple argued constantly before the shooting. DuBois has prior juvenile convictions for witness tampering, unlawful posession of a firearm, burglary, and auto theft.
He is currently in serious condition in the intensive care unit at Harborview and is scheduled to be arraigned January 13.
If convicted as charged, he could face up to 25 years in prison, prosecutors said.
Three Arrested in Jersey Couple Slaying
Posted in Follow Up, Project New Era on April 10, 2010 by projectnewera
I’m happy to report that there has been an official arrest in the murders of Michael Muchioki and Nia Haqq, who were buried side by side at Linden’s Rosedale Cemetery. RIP
A Jersey City woman whose brother was charged in the execution-style killings of two men earlier this year was among three teens arrested today for a similarly ruthless double-slaying: Sunday’s killings of a young couple as they returned home from their engagement party.
Darmelia Lawrence, 19, who sought to provide an alibi for her brother after his February arrest, was charged with felony murder, armed robbery and weapons counts in the shooting deaths of Michael Muchioki, 27, and Nia Haqq, 25, who were buried together in a Linden cemetery today afternoon.
Two of Lawrence’s friends — Latonia Bellamy and Shiquan Bellamy, thought to be cousins — also were charged. Both are 19 and from Jersey City.
The arrests brought some measure of solace in a case that has devastated two families and rattled many in New Jersey’s second-largest city.
“This was the worst type of violent crime — a homicide involving a stranger on stranger — and was an act of pure and random viciousness,” Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy said. “This tragedy has touched the lives of so many, and knowing these suspected killers are behind bars is the first step in the healing process.”
UPDATE: Sheneka Cole

—————————————
Original article found here
While family feared the worst, six year-old Sheneka Cole — reported missing Tuesday night — was found safely sleeping at a friend’s house just a block away from her home early this afternoon.
Before she was found, police searched Washington Park, checked the lagoons and ordered up a bloodhound to follow the girl’s scent. Dozens of volunteers passed out fliers, scoured alleyways, Dumpsters and vacant buildings looking for Sheneka in the pouring rain.
The massive manhunt ended at about 1 p.m. when four Cole family friends going door-to-door found Sheneka sleeping at a friend’s house in the 6000 block of Eberhart — just around the corner from the playground where she was last seen at about 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Lee Key, a close family friend, said two girls pointed him to an apartment building where they found Sheneka sleeping face down on a love seat in an apartment that looked vacant with a kicked in front door.
When Key spotted Sheneka he grabbed her and hugged her. When Nicole Cole — Sheneka’s biological aunt, who is also her adoptive mother — got the good news, she ran to get the girl.
“God is good,” Key said. “I’m just ecstatic. It’s such a blessing to have found her.”
After a tearful reunion with family on their front porch, Sheneka appeared to be in good condition, but was “very shaken up,” family members said. A short time later, Sheneka was seen being removed from the house on a stretcher and taken away in an ambulance. A fire department spokesman later said she was headed for a quick medical check-up.
At about 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sheneka and her friend were at the playground across the street from her house in the 500 block of 60th Street when gunshots rang out nearby. The girls were scared. Sheneka fled to her friend’s house on Eberhart. Sheneka told family members she spent the night there because she was afraid to go outside after the shooting, which injured two girls near 61st and King Drive.
There wasn’t a radio, television or computer in the apartment where Sheneka was found and the adult woman who lived there did not know about the search for the girl, Key said.
Once Sheneka was reunited with her family, the woman who lived in the building where the girl was found was interviewed by police. No one has been charged with wrongdoing in the incident as of this evening.

Murdered: Gina Clarke-Lewis
Posted in Murdered, Project New Era on April 6, 2010 by projectnewera
This story is ridiculously sad. Although the story below says no killer had been found, you can read the update HERE.
A 27-year-old Temple University student was shot and killed outside of her apartment in Lindenwold Friday night.
Camden County Prosecutors have yet to name a suspect or make an arrest, though family members have a theory as to who murdered the young woman.
Gina Clarke-Lewis was coming home after working at her job as a waitress at Cibo Bistro and Wine Bar in the Philadelphia International Airport when she was shot and killed right outside her apartment door, according to the Camden County Prosecutors Office.
On her way home from work, Clarke-Lewis stopped at Pat’s restaurant in Lindenwold, N.J. to pick up food. Her dinner was lying on her doorstep next to her body when police arrived at about 10 p.m. Friday, according to prosecutors.
Clarke-Lewis’s family believes that the Temple student’s ex-boyfriend shot her, reports the Daily News.
“This was a murder,” Brenda Lewis, Gina’s mother, told the Daily News. “This whole thing was planned out. Every time she moved, he followed her.”
Clarke-Lewis categorized her “mood” on her MySpace page as “stalked” the last time she logged on in January, says the Daily News.
The prosecutor’s office has not commented on any suspects or persons of interest in the murder case yet. Anyone with information should contact Camden County Prosecutor’s Office James
